Q:  What components are included in the package?

• Brackets: CNC-machined 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum with a brushed satin finish.
• Hardware: All necessary spacers and zinc-coated fasteners.
• Pulleys: Water pump pulley and idler pulleys.
• Tensioner: Automatic spring-style tensioner.
• Adapters: SBC crank pulley with a BBC (1966–1993) crank pulley adapter.

Q:  What additional components are required for a complete installation?

A: The following parts are not included and must be sourced separately:

• AC Compressor: Sanden 508/709 HD compressor. We offer a Genuine Sanden, PN 10300-01.
• Water Pump: A reverse-rotation "long" water pump (found on 1988–2000 454 engines). We offer a Gates PN 44030.
• Power Steering Pump: A "P-series" pump (1975–2013) with a smooth, press-on shaft (no keyway). We offer either a standard pump or a hydro-boost version with two return ports.  
• Power Steering Pulley: A 6-rib serpentine pulley compatible with the P-series pump (e.g., Part #300-200).
• Alternator: A CS130 serpentine alternator (standard on 1990–1995 GM trucks) or a compatible high-output 1-wire unit.  We offer a PowerMaster 140 amp, PN 47861.
• Drive Belt: A 6-rib serpentine belt.  Suggested lengths and Gates part numbers can be found in our installation instructions.

Q: What engine applications is the K10654 bracket system designed to fit?

A: This system is compatible with Big Block Chevy (BBC) Mark IV, Gen 5, and Gen 6 engines. It supports both standard and tall-deck configurations across the full displacement range (366, 396, 402, 427, 454, 502, and 572).

Q: Is there a specific requirement for 1994–2000 model year engines?

A: The standard kit includes a crank pulley adapter for 1966–1993 engines. If you are using a 1994–2000 Gen 5 or Gen 6 engine, a different crankshaft adapter is required for proper harmonic balancer fitment. Please call or email and we will send the correct adapter.

Q: Which A/C compressor model is required for this system?

A: The K10654 is specifically designed for use with a Sanden 508 (SD5H14) or Sanden 709 (SD7H15) style compressor. We offer the Sanden HD 709 because it has more capacity, runs smoother and only costs about $10 more than a 508.

Q: What specifications are required for the water pump?

A: This system requires a reverse-rotation "long" water pump, typically found on 1988–2000 454 truck engines. We offer a Gates PN 44030. Standard-rotation v-belt pumps are not compatible.

Q: What type of power steering pump is compatible with these brackets?

A: The system utilizes a Saginaw "P-series" pump (common on 1975–2013 GM applications) featuring the "canned-ham" style reservoir. The pump must have a smooth, press-on shaft for the pulley; it is not compatible with older keyed-shaft pumps.  We offer the Edelmann 6023R P-series pump or for Hydroboost, the Edelmann 6091R P-series pump.

You will also need a P-series pump serpentine pulley, 300-200. 

Q: Which alternator should be sourced for the K10654 kit?

A: The brackets are designed for a GM CS130 serpentine alternator (standard on 1990–1995 GM trucks). We offer a PowerMaster 140 amp, PN 47861.

Q: How do I select the correct serpentine belt?

A: The system utilizes a single 6-rib serpentine belt. Due to variables such as alternator casing size and pulley diameters, a specific belt is not provided. Our installation instructions will have a suggested length and Gates part number. Final fitment should always be verified by checking the tensioner’s operating range marks.

Q: Will this kit clear aftermarket tall valve covers and steering boxes?

A: Yes. The accessories are mounted "high and tight" to the engine block. The A/C compressor is positioned on the passenger side, and the alternator and power steering pump are on the driver's side, providing ample clearance for large steering boxes and tall aftermarket valve covers.
