Description

Upgrade your Chevy Small Block to a modern maintenance-free automatic belt tensioner and the quiet reliability of a serpentine system.

Whether you are upgrading your old v-belt system or starting with a fresh build, our SBC serpentine package delivers performance and value. Our philosophy is to design our systems around accessories that are easily found in any parts store.

This bracket system mounts the Sanden Mini SD7B10 (7176) compressor in front of the passenger’s side cylinder head. This is the aftermarket standard in compressors with plenty of capacity for C10s, OBS trucks, and muscle cars. It is also quieter than the Sanden HD and has the ability to rev to 9000 RPMs.

The alternator and power steering are tucked in tight in front of the driver side for maximum steering box clearance. It mounts a standard CS130 alternator that came on Chevy trucks in the early 1990s. It mounts the tried and true Saginaw P series power steering pump with attached metal reservoir.

The system is based around the reverse rotation "long" water pump found on 1988-1995 Chevy trucks.

-The system is driven by one main 6-rib serpentine belt.

-Fits all classic Gen 1 SBC engines (1969 and later) or requires cylinder head with at least one threaded hole on passenger side.

-Clears tall valve covers.

    What's Included / Other Requirements

     What's included:

    • Brackets made of 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum (brushed satin finish)
    • All necessary spacers and zinc coated fasteners
    • Automatic spring-style tensioner
    • Idler Pulleys
    • Water Pump pulley
    • SBC crank pulley

What else is required to complete the installation:

    • GM SBC engine (1969 and later)
    • AC Compressor: Sanden Mini AC compressor (also known as SD7B10 (Kwik Performance PN 10266-01). This AC compressor also requires a manifold style fitting kit -Straight Manifold (Kwik Performance PN K10550). -Curved Manifold (Kwik Performance PN 342310)
    • Water Pump: A reverse rotation water pump off of a 350 Truck engine (1988-1995).
    • Power Steering Pump: A "P-series" pump (1975–2013) with a smooth, press-on shaft (no keyway). We offer either a standard pump or a hydro-boost version with two return ports.
    • Power Steering Pulley: A 6-rib serpentine pulley compatible with the P-series pump (e.g., Part #300-200).
    • Alternator: A CS130 serpentine alternator (standard on 1990–1995 GM trucks) or a compatible high-output 1-wire unit.  We offer a PowerMaster 140 amp, PN 47861.

Drive Belt: A 6-rib serpentine belt.  Suggested lengths and Gates part numbers can be found in our installation instructions.

    FAQs

Q: Which Small Block Chevy (SBC) engines are compatible with the K10324 system?

A: This package fits the classic Small Block Chevy platform, including 262, 265, 267, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, and 400 cubic inch engines. It is compatible with both early (pre-1986) and late (1987–1995) cylinder head bolt patterns, including Vortec heads. Note: Early heads must have at least one bolt hole.

Q: What components are included in the complete K10324 package?

A: This is a comprehensive system including CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum brackets for the Alternator, Power Steering, and A/C compressor. It also includes a spring-loaded automatic tensioner, an idler pulley, a water pump pulley, and a crankshaft pulley. All necessary zinc-plated hardware and spacers are provided.

Q: Is a serpentine belt included in the box?

A: This system is driven by a single 6-rib belt. Because alternator and power steering pulley sizes can vary, a belt is not included. The installation instructions provide suggested Gates part numbers and lengths. Always verify the fitment by checking the tensioner’s operating range marks after installation. If you need a longer or shorter belt, we have a Gates belt chart on the product page.

Q: What water pump is required for this serpentine conversion?

A:  The system is designed around the reverse-rotation "long" water pump found on 1988–1995 Chevy trucks. This pump measures approximately 7" from the block mounting surface to the fan hub. A standard-rotation "V-belt" water pump will not work with this serpentine belt routing.

Q: Which A/C compressor must be used with this bracketry?

A: The K10324 is designed exclusively for the Sanden SD7B10 "Mini" (7176) compressor. This compact compressor allows the unit to be tucked "high and tight" on the passenger side, providing maximum clearance for frame rails. It is not compatible with the larger Sanden 508 or 709 series.

Q: What type of power steering pump is required for the K10324?

A: The K10324 is designed for the classic Saginaw P-series "canned ham" power steering pump. The pump must have a press-on serpentine pulley. This is the most common GM pump found from about 1975 through the early 1990s and features a self-contained fluid reservoir.  We offer both a single-return port version or a dual-port for hydro-boost brake applications.

Q: Does this kit require a remote power steering reservoir?

A: No. Because it utilizes the P-series pump, the fluid reservoir is integrated directly onto the pump body. This simplifies plumbing compared to Type-2 pump systems.

Q: Which alternator models are supported by the K10324?

A: The bracket is designed for the GM CS130 (standard on many 1980s-90s GM vehicles). It also accepts modern high-output 1-wire units like the PowerMaster we offer: PN 87861.

Q: Will this bracket system clear tall aftermarket valve covers?

A: Yes, this kit provides ample clearance for most tall, aluminum, or fabricated aftermarket valve covers.

Q: Can I run this system without the A/C compressor installed?

A: No. The A/C compressor is a necessary component of the belt routing for this specific kit. If your build does not require air conditioning, you should utilize one of our other "No-AC" Small Block Chevy systems.
