Description

This bracket mounts the Sanden mini compressor “High and Tight” on LS engines with Truck/SUV (1999-2013) and Camaro (2010-15) crank pulley / water pump spacing. The K10780 is a narrow AC bracket that mounts the “mini” Sanden SD7B10 (7176) compressor in front of the passenger’s side cylinder head. The high and tight bracket works perfectly with stock truck alternator & power steering and it runs on a single 6 rib serpentine belt.

This configuration is a perfect solution for 5.3L and 6.0L LS swaps in C10s and OBS trucks. The LS High and Tight AC Bracket works with your GM alternator/power-steering bracket. This AC bracket also allows you to swap to an LS1/LS2/LS3 low rise intake manifold. All you have to do is modify the GM bracket and add our K10618 LS Truck Idler Relocation. Or if you want a really clean install, use our K10611 LS High and Tight Alt/PS (P-series) Bracket.

The K10780 High and Tight AC bracket gives you the space you need to clear air ride slosh tubs and your turbo hot side. This space savings makes it a great candidate for early trucks (pre-1955), Jeeps, and classic street rods (pre-1948).

    What else is required to complete the installation:

    • GM LS Gen 3 or 4 engine with Truck/SUV (1999-2013) or Camaro (2010-15) harmonic balancer and water pump
    • Six-rib belt, See our included installation instructions for suggested lengths and Gates part numbers. Alternator rating and PS pulley diameters can change suggested lengths. Always check tensioner marks for correct fitment.
    • Sanden SD7B10 “mini” AC compressor (Kwik Performance PN 10266-01).
    • This AC compressor also requires a
      manifold style fitting kit. We offer both a straight and a curved manifold.

    FAQs

    Does this bracket work with Corvette or GTO accessory spacing? No. This specific bracket is engineered for Truck/SUV (1999-2013 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 6.2) and Camaro (2010-2015) crank pulley spacing. If you are running Corvette, CTS-V or LS1 Camaro spacing, please see our “wide-mount” brackets.

    Will this clear my factory hood on a C10 or OBS truck? Yes. The "High and Tight" design is specifically intended to keep the compressor tucked inward toward the engine. While it sits high to clear the frame and suspension, it is designed to stay below the hood line of most popular swap candidates like the C10 and OBS Chevy trucks.

    Can I use my original GM factory AC compressor with this bracket? No. This bracket is designed specifically for the Sanden SD7B10 (7176) "mini" compressor. Factory GM compressors are larger and use a different mounting pattern that will not fit this compact bracket.

    What "modifications" are required to my factory GM alternator bracket?  No modifications are necessary unless you are swapping to a low-profile intake (like an LS1, LS2, or LS3) on a truck engine, In this case, you usually have to trim the top portion of the factory aluminum alternator/PS bracket. To finish the look, we recommend adding the K10618 Idler Relocation kit for a clean, professional appearance.

    Do you make an alternator/power steering bracket that matches the material of this AC bracket? Yes, see K10611 for a bracket that matches and lets you run a typical truck alternator and P-Series power steering pump.

    Is the "Mini" Sanden compressor powerful enough for a large truck cab? Absolutely. While the compressor is small, its efficiency is high. The key to great AC performance in an LS swap is actually the condenser. As long as you use a modern, high capacity condenser, the Sanden 7176 will have no trouble keeping a standard or extended truck cab or sedan ice-cold.

    Does this kit include the serpentine belt? The kit includes the automatic tensioner, but the belt is sold separately. Because different alternator sizes and power steering pulleys require different lengths, we provide a suggested length and Gates part number in our instructions .  We also have a complete  Gates Belt Chart available is your configuration is different.

    Can I paint or powder coat the bracket? The bracket comes in a high-quality 6061-T6 brushed satin aluminum finish. It looks great as-is, but it can be polished to a mirror finish, anodized, or powder-coated to match your engine bay's theme.

    What kind of AC hose connections do I need? The Sanden mini compressor uses standard AC O-ring style fittings. To make plumbing easier, we offer both Straight Manifolds and Curved Manifolds that bolt directly to the compressor, allowing you to easily attach standard #8 and #10 AC hoses.
