Our LS swap AC bracket is designed for truck and Camaro LS engine swaps using long crank pulley and water pump spacing (Truck 1999–2013 / Camaro 2010–2015). The Kwik Performance K10472 bracket moves the Sanden 709 compressor up and away from the low-mounted GM location that typically interferes with LS swap engine bays, especially in classic trucks and muscle cars.

What’s included in the box?

We try to make it as "plug-and-play" as possible. You’ll get:

  • Main mounting plates (machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum).
  • All necessary spacer tubes and zinc-coated fasteners.
  • A new automatic spring-style belt tensioner (no manual adjusting required!).
  • An idler pulley.

What else is required to complete the installation:

  • GM LS Gen 3 or 4 engine with Truck/SUV (1999-2013) or Camaro (2010-15) harmonic balancer and water pump
  • Six-rib belt, See our included installation instructions for suggested lengths and Gates part numbers. Note: Alternator rating and PS pulley diameters can change suggested lengths. Always check tensioner marks for correct fitment.
  • Sanden SD709 AC compressor (also known as SD7H15). We recommend the 709 over the 508 compressor for smoother operation on LS engines.

What is the main purpose of the K10472 bracket?

In many LS swaps (like many muscle cars and pickup trucks,) the factory AC compressor sits low on the passenger side, right where your frame rail or crossmember wants to be. The K10472 "Wide Mount" bracket moves a Sanden compressor up and out, just beside the valve cover. This clears your chassis while maintaining a low enough profile to fit under most stock hoods.

Compatibility & Spacing

  • Which belt spacing does this bracket use? It is designed for the "long" spacing found on 1999–2013 GM Truck/SUV engines and 2010–2015 LS3 and L99 Camaros. It will not align with Corvette or 1998–2002 F-Body belt systems. We have other part numbers for those.
  • Does this work with my factory truck water pump? Yes. It is specifically engineered to work with the standard LS truck water pump and harmonic balancer, making it a "bolt-on" solution for most pull-out engines. However, LS truck engines can also use the LS3 (2010-15) Camaro water pump since the belt spacing is shared with truck balancers. The Camaro pump is sometimes preferred because it has the upper hose outlet on the front driver’s side which can be helpful for hose routing.

Compressor Requirements

  • Which AC compressor do I need to buy? This is an "HD" bracket designed for the Sanden 508 (SD5H14) or the Sanden 709 (SD7H15) style compressors.
  • Note: We typically recommend the 709 over the 508 for LS engines because it is a smoother, 7-piston design that reduces belt vibration.
  • Can I use the factory GM compressor with this bracket? No. This bracket is designed specifically to convert your system to a Sanden-style compressor, which is the industry standard for aftermarket AC systems like Vintage Air, Old Air or Classic Auto Air.  Also, the factory compressor has a 4-groove pulley which not work with the main 6-groove belt system.

o    Pro-Tip for Maximum Cooling  If you are building a large-cabin vehicle (like a Suburban, a 4-door Crew Cab, or a vintage Station Wagon), the K10472 with a Sanden 709 compressor is the preferred choice. It has a larger displacement than the "Mini" compressors, ensuring it can move enough refrigerant to keep a large interior cold.

Installation & Clearance

  • How wide is the assembly once installed? The K10472 measures approximately 16.26 inches from the center of the engine to the outer edge of the compressor. It’s ideal for wide engine bays like C10 trucks and full-size muscle cars, but may be too wide for narrow-nosed street rods.  See our “High & Tight” bracket, K10780 for those applications.
  • What's included in the box? You get the 6061-T6 aluminum mounting plates (brushed finish), all necessary spacers, zinc-coated fasteners, an automatic spring-style belt tensioner, and an idler pulley.
  • Do I need to buy a specific belt? Yes. Because the belt length depends on your alternator and power steering setup, a belt is not included. However, Kwik provides suggested lengths and Gates part numbers in the instructions based on the rest of your drive system.

  • Can I use this with my factory driver’s side brackets? Yes! This bracket is a "passenger side only" solution. It is designed to work perfectly alongside your factory GM truck alternator and power steering pump brackets.  And, of course, it also works with our Kwik alternator/power steering brackets.
