Description

Bolt-on kit to connect GM R4 compressor on an LS truck engine to your OEM factory AC system.

Connect to your factory AC system with new hoses designed specifically for 1990-93 OBS Chevy trucks (trucks with original R12 air conditioning systems). This kit requires a condenser with 2 male fitting. 1990 was a changeover year, if your truck has one male and one female fitting check out our AC Hose Kit (88-90) OBS Chevy - GM R4 - K10709.

For use with Kwik Performance AC bracket on LS truck engines using GM R4 AC compressor (requires use of vertical manifold fitting kit, Kwik part number 045024).

Key Features

One of the biggest features that sets our kit apart is that it includes a trinary switch, mounted directly in the hard line. This lets you:

  • Control the compressor based on low- or high-pressure conditions
  • Activate an electric fan when needed

We chose a trinary switch because you can also wire it as a binary switch, making it a more versatile solution.

Another standout feature is the factory-style bent hard line that routes cleanly from the condenser through the engine bay. This avoids hose chafing and damage by eliminating rubbing against the core support. It’s one more quality detail designed to make your install last longer.

What's Included / Other Requirements

Each hose kit includes:

#10 suction hose (1/2” ID, 1” OD)

-45 degree swivel from receiver/drier

-90 degree swivel with service port to compressor

#8 high pressure hose (13/32” ID, 29/32”OD)

-135 degree swivel with service port from compressor

-Straight swivel connects to safety switch fitting

-Safety switch fitting

-Safety switch (can be wired as binary or trinary)

-40 amp fan relay

-Bent ½” hard line with #8 male and female swivels connects to condenser

-Vertical AC manifold, Kwik part number 045024

Other requirements:

GM R4 compressor with 6-groove serpentine pulley

You’ll reuse the OEM liquid line, but everything else is provided — designed to bolt in and be ready to go by the end of a weekend.

Another small but important detail: Don’t open the drier early. It’s sealed with a desiccant that absorbs moisture. If you open it too soon, it’ll suck in humidity and reduce system performance. Wait until you’re ready to pull the vacuum before unsealing it.

Q: Which compressors are compatible with this kit?

This AC Hose kit works with GM R4, if you have a Sanden mini check out our K10669 or if you have the Sanden HD check out our K10670.

Each kit is tailored to the fitting type and mounting style of the compressor you're using. Be sure to select the correct option when ordering.

Q: Do I need to replace the drier?

Yes, but do not open the drier until you're ready to pull a vacuum, as it contains moisture-absorbing desiccant that can become saturated from ambient air. 

Q: Why do you include a trinary switch instead of just a binary one?

The trinary switch offers an upgrade: it not only protects your system from high/low pressure, but it also triggers electric fan control — crucial for LS swaps or any setup running electric fans instead of a mechanical clutch fan. However, it can be wired as a binary switch if no fan control is needed. A wiring diagram is provided to show both methods. 

Q: Can I reuse my OEM drier?

We recommend using a new drier. The desiccant in old driers may be saturated or contaminated. Also, never open the new drier until you're ready to pull vacuum — or it will absorb ambient moisture and compromise your system.
