Wide-Mount AC relocation bracket for LS engines with Corvette (1997-2013) crank pulley and water pump spacing.

This bracket mounts the popular Sanden compressor just outside the passenger’s side valve cover and is driven by one main 6-rib serpentine belt.

This configuration is popular in classic muscle cars because it maintains low hood clearance without being as wide as some of our competitors.
Our overall width is just 16.26” from the center of the engine to the outer edge of the compressor.

Why relocate the AC compressor for an LS swap?

  • GM made a fantastic engine with the LS design, but they didn’t always put the accessories in the best location for us engine-swapping hotrodders.
    By locating the AC compressor just outside the passenger side cylinder head you solve the possible frame clearance issues with chassis such as:
    • Camaro

What’s included in the box?

We try to make it as "plug-and-play" as possible. You’ll get:

  • Main mounting plates (machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum).
  • All necessary spacer tubes and zinc-coated fasteners.
  • A new automatic spring-style belt tensioner (no manual adjusting required!).
  • An idler pulley.

What else is required to complete the installation:

  • GM LS Gen 3 or 4 engine with Corvette (1997-2013) harmonic balancer and water pump (or equivalent)
  • Six-rib belt, See our included installation instructions for suggested lengths and Gates part numbers.
  • Sanden SD709 AC compressor (also known as SD7H15)

We recommend the 709 over the 508 compressor for smoother operation and slightly more cooling capacity.

What is the main purpose of the K10470 bracket?

In many LS swaps (like 1st and 2nd Gen Camaros or Chevelles), the factory AC compressor sits low on the passenger side, right where your frame rail or crossmember wants to be. The K10470 "Wide Mount" bracket moves a Sanden compressor up and out, just beside the valve cover. This clears your chassis while maintaining a low enough profile to fit under most stock hoods.

Which engine spacing does this kit fit?

This kit is specifically engineered for Corvette (1997-2013) and most GM crate engines with Corvette belt spacing.

  • Pro-Tip: If you’re using truck accessories or F-body spacing, you’ll need a different part number (K10472 for Truck or K10471 for F-body). Always double-check your harmonic balancer depth before ordering!

Can I use the factory GM compressor with this bracket?

  • No. This bracket is designed specifically to convert your system to a Sanden-style compressor, which is the industry standard for aftermarket AC systems like Vintage Air, Old Air or Classic Auto Air. Also, the factory compressor has a 4-groove pulley which not work with the main 6-groove belt system.

Which AC compressor should I use then?

The K10470 is designed for the "Heavy Duty" Sanden 508/709 style compressors.

  • Our Recommendation: While a standard 508 fits, we recommend and offer the Sanden SD7 (7-cylinder 709) because it’s a bit smoother and quieter, which is a nice touch for a cruiser.
  • Note: If you prefer the ultra-compact Sanden "Mini" (SD7B10), you’ll want the K10673 bracket instead.

Does this work with my factory alternator and power steering?

Yes! This bracket is a "team player." It is designed to work perfectly with:

  • The factory Corvette alternator and power steering bracket.
  • The Kwik Performance K10166 Alt/PS bracket if you're looking for a matching set.

How do I know what belt to use?

Since every swap is a little different (you might have a different diameter power steering pulley or a high-output alternator), we can’t provide a "one size fits all" belt. However, the instructions include a suggested length and a Gates part number as a starting point. A Gates Belt Chart is available on our website for other options.

Is the installation difficult?

If you're comfortable doing basic mechanical work, you'll have no problem installing this bracket. We provide detailed installation instructions in the box, and there's even an installation video on YouTube that walks you through the entire process. Most builders can knock this out in an afternoon. All the fasteners are included, and the bracket is precision-made, so everything lines up perfectly. No grinding, no modifications, just bolt it on and enjoy!

How wide is the engine once this is installed?

We know space is tight. From the center of the engine to the outermost edge of the compressor, the K10470 measures approximately 16.26 inches. It’s wide enough to clear the valve cover but narrow enough to keep you away from most inner fenders.

Why should I choose Kwik over a cheap universal bracket?
